Abstract Scope |
Lead brass is widely used in various fields of daily life due to its excellent workability and good self-lubrication. The harmful effects of lead on the ecosystem have led to increasing restrictions on the use of lead brass. Both vacuum distillation and pyrometallurgical oxidation refining have unavoidable problems such as high energy consumption and complex process.
This study investigates the thermodynamic feasibility and lead removal patterns of adding Mg-Ca intermediate alloy under super-gravity field. It is revealed that the Mg-Ca intermediate alloy will form a high melting point and low-density Ca-Pb compound, and the removal efficiency of lead could reach 93% via super-gravity treatment. Therefore, the addition of intermediate alloys under super gravity field has the characteristics of short recovery steps, green energy saving, and easy handling. This provides a new solution for the recycling of lead brass scrap and has great commercial value. |
