Abstract Scope |
Soft magnetic cores that provide inductive impedance are important components of power electronic devices. Increasing power and power density in modern power converters requires careful design to balance aspects of electrical and thermal performance. This is especially important for aerospace applications where power density and electromagnetic interference are critical design aspects. Methods to connect converter design to material performance will be discussed with emphasis on switching power converters that apply non-sinusoidal excitation fields to cores. Emphasis is placed on physics-based magnetization models and computational limits for use in circuit simulation tools. |
